There's a Fine Fine Line

Dress: Cotton On

Cardigan: ZARA Kids

Headband: Diva

Black flats (not seen): vintage

... between reality and pretend.

In my pretend world, I'm stressing out about opening night of a musical I'm in.

In reality, I'm stressing out about all the work I have to complete on top of being mentally and physically exhausted...

This is the first outfit in a long, long while in which I have not included anything thrifted or vintage, well, with the exception of my black flats that I wear all the time.  I think it may have something to do with how I'm feeling... jaded.  Basically, I'm not my usual self.  The past few feeks have been horrible for me.  I haven't been feeling well and its really affected everything... everything. Ugh!

Blown with the Wind

"Inside my empty bottle I was constructing a lighthouse while all the others were making ships." - Charles Simic I heard someone say once that a place is its most beautiful the first time you see it.  It's like you subcosciously tune out the flaws and ignite only the memories of what's most appealing:  the sweet, salty blend of the waves; the safe comfort of the perfect sweater.  That's why, every now and then, I like to adventure to a place I've never been before.  Whether its twenty minutes away or an hour; whether the route is as simple as a straight shot, or a maze of directions I'd be hopeless to find again.  I don't know if I believe an experience can never live up to first expectations, but I do believe in the allure and artistry of a first-time encounter.  And sometimes, you can't help but wake up an say:  "Today, I just want to go somewhere new.  The world is too big not to take advantage." Topshop sweater (similar), Kanvas mermaid skirt (similar), Madewell lace-up combat boots, Ray-Ban shades, vintage head wrap, Whiting & Davis Co. bag

Neon sporty-chick look + KONKURS

PL: Witam Was serdecznie :)

In this season designers inspired by casual clothes created new style called sporty-chic. It combines elegance and convenience. You could see the trend in many collections - "from Isabel Marant's cool, colorful layers to Alexander Wang's perennial sporty-girl swagger,  runways were rife with easy, athletic pieces in hyperchromatic hues" (Fabsugar).

I tried to rock this idea in my outfit. I was also inspired by the eighties and fluo colors fashion. I was wearing: Black tank top with pink print - Atlantic Black blazer - vintage (mom's closet :)) Gold square necklace (you'll find it HERE) - Cutie Pie Chic Candy Bi-color Splicing Elastic Leggings in neon pink (you'll find it HERE) - Oasap Tricolor high heels - VJ-Style _______________________________________________________

Przypominam o konkursie, w którym możecie wygrać złotą bransoletkę charms - zapraszam do udziału :)

Don't forget to take part in my golden charms bracelet giveaway :)

Nature of Things

"A memory is what is left when something happens and does not completely unhappen." - Edward de Bono To me, this top holds particular sentiment.  It's among the few pieces I kept from my grandmother's wardrobe when she passed a few years back.  At that point in time, my sense of style was so premature and my emotions so hypersensitive, I couldn't even think about looking through each remnant of her, nor did I particularly want to.  This shirt was one of a set trio - similar in design and inspiration, but varying in color - and besides those three items, I may only have two other clothing items of her's.  Whenever I wear this top (or any of her other pieces, really) I feel her confidence and grace, her manner and style.  I remember going to her Women's Guild meetings over the summer, reading with her by the pool, exploring the waves and sands at the beach.  I wish I had paid more attention to what I wanted to keep of her's, because embodying the stories of wear of a vintage piece is special.  It's unique and you can feel it with every embroidered stitch. Do any of you have a vintage piece that holds something memorable?  :) Grandmother's Vintage top and necklace, Topshop Kristen MOTO jeans, Dolce Vita oxfords, Su-Shi bag

Blushing Pink

Dress: vintage (FOR SALE HERE) Knit Top: TEMT Belt: belongs to a F21 dress Ballet flats: vintage Bag: vintage We took my dad out for a birthday lunch a few days ago.  Our first choice, the Melville Nurseries Cafe, was bearing the brunt of the suburb's power outage caused by maintenance (you'd think they'd stop for the lunch crowd!) so we chose to dine at our other favourite cafe, in Guildford.  It was such a lovely day that even the afternoon showers didn't dampen out spirits! The owner of the cafe thought i was about 14 and spoke to me like one would to a girl of that age.  I get that a lot.  Her daughter, who is younger than me, however, thought I was 11.  Now that's just nuts!!  I don't look 11!!  I know telling a woman girl female (?) that she looks younger than she really is, is meant to be a compliment... but its starting to get on my nerves.

By the way, what camera do you use?  I'm in search of a good, not-too-expensive DSLR.  Any suggestions?

Summer Staples

"I'd like to die with my boots on." - Daniel Berrigan Wearing boots during the warm seasons used to scare me.  It's hard to believe, considering how often I wear them with dress on this blog, but I used to hold this intense nerve that boots were for mud puddles and snowshoeing and that having bare legs in a pair of dusty kicks and shorts was far too radical and sweaty for small-town America.  Clearly, my relationship with these boots has elevated to more of a dependent companionship than an ownership, so they were the first pair I dared to step outside my comfort zone with.  (A few months back I'd worn my Chloé ankle booties, but their qualities are more high top sneakers-meet-paper boy, and less rock n' roll duster.)  In my regard - and you may feel differently - I have a pretty stellar track record with these AllSaints boots.  The most comfortable shoes I own, they add a grunge effect that's a bit paradoxical to their smooth design, thus universal to almost everything in my closet.  I really do like how they look with shorts, and I can see this sort of combination being a go-to look for summer days of simple dressing.  And considering I just bought two pairs of boots last week in a spell of fiendish determination (I blame the "innocent" curiosity that steered me to grazing over all my online wishlists.), boots will troll my blog this summer.  But, hey, at least there will be diversity? Vintage sweater and necklace, BDG @ UO tank top, BCBGMaxAzria shorts, AllSaints Ismaris Long Boot, Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses, leather wrap bracelet from NYC and cowry shell bracelet from Martha's Vineyard,

NEON H&M blue blazer and tricolor stilettos

PL: Witam Was serdecznie :)

Dość niekonwencjonalnie jak na blogerkę modową zamiast zachwycać się Polskim Tygodniem Mody pojechałam na wymianę do Niemiec i spędziałam tam czas m.in. przeglądając tamtejsze wydania Vogue'a oraz podziwiając modę uliczną. ;) Miło jest popatrzeć na ciekawie wystylizowanych ludzi. Z żalem stwierdzam, że naszym chłopcom (większości) niestety sporo brakuje - nie rozumiem, dlaczego modnie ubrany mężczyzna przez nich jest nazywany gejem... Niech ktoś w końcu ich uświadomi, że szerokie jeansy i "Adidasy" naprawdę nie wyglądają dobrze. (;

Po moich krótkich przemyśleniach na deser proponuję stylizację z neonową niebieską marynarką z najnowszej kolekcji H&M. Jak zapewne już od dawna wiecie - neonowe odcienie królują w tym sezonie. ;)

EN: Hi!

I've just come back from a German-Polish exchange. I had a great time there. I enjoyed a lot browsing local Vogue and looking at street fashion. ;) It's nice to see well styled people. I regret that there are not many stylish boys in my city. I'm tired of guys in baggy jeans and some sport shoes. They aren't "IN" and don't really look good either! Come on, wear some more fancy clothes. (;

After this short deliberation, I would like to show you how I styled my new bright blue blazer from H&M. Neon colors are one of the greatest trends of this season. I was wearing: Hot pink "Peace" T-Shirt - Rue21 Bright blue blazer - H&M Black camera necklace (you'll find it here) - EdiBazzar Black camera ring (you'll find it here) - EdiBazzar Crumpled silver bracelet (you'll find it here) - Jubileo Black jeans - Rue21 Tricolor stilettos (you'll find them here) - VJ Style

Hill Dweller

I left home with a jumper on in the morning and had to take it off before midday.  This year's autumn is proving to be rather bipolar; one hour its jumper-worthy weather and the next, its too hot to have two layers on.  Both the woven leather bag and sandals once belonged to mum.  The bag is one of my favourite things ever!  It has the loveliest batik lining inside and is big enough for all the essentials!  Speaking of essentials, I have to get new passport pictures taken for my UK student visa application form.  I cannot stand the fact that you are not allowed to smile in passport pictures in Australia!!!  I always smiled in ones I had done in Singapore!  And I always smile at the customs officer at the airport so me smiling in the picture would be ideal, wouldn't it...? Anyway, this is officially my first post drawn up on the new Blogger interface and must admit that I quite like this new format.  Are you using it yet?  Which do you prefer - the old or new Blogger? Happy Anzac Day for yesterday! Lest We Forget.

London Calling

Shirt: thrifted (vintage), Skirt: vintage (FOR SALE Hill Side Story), Cadrigan: mum's

Shoes: vintage, Necklace: thrifted

I decided on this red, blue and white ensemble yesterday.  Can you tell I'm excited about London?!  I borrowed this cardigan from my mum and was pleasantly surprised to find how warm it keeps me.  Might be 'borrowing' this one more often.  I took one look at the starched collar of the white shirt and knew I had to get it.  This shirt, which I thrifted last week, is waaay too big for me but I somehow am always able to make them (larger pieces) work.  Might just be adding this one to my shop!  Still deciding... The highlight of this outfit, for me, is the ballet slippers necklace I thrifted almost a year ago.  This one I'll definitely be keeping!

It finally feels like Autumn.  Days are a lot cooler and we've had the ocassional rainy afternoon.  How I wish the leaves would change colour though.  Other than that, I'm loving it!

67 days to London!!!!!!!!!! Just saying.
